I have a staring problem.
I always have and I most likely always will.
I like to observe people, their mannerisms, their confidence, the way that they carry themselves. It's my thing.
But for some reason, when I find someone staring at me I feel so odd. I want to know whats going through their head. I want to know why their eyes mainly focus on my mid-section and pass my eyes right up.
Yesterday I decided to sport my crop top with some cute high-waisted flowy pants...

Apparently I was also wearing a sign that said "Please Stare Hard". Women, talking to their friends, walking alone, sitting in the grass, sitting in class, all staring at me. Now it would be wrong of me to think that they were staring and thinking negatively, a generalization I would never make, but if they were staring and applauding me silently in their minds, why not say it? Or smile? They all had these smug look, eyebrows turned inward, lips snarled, and eyes bobbing along with my jiggle.
NEWSFLASH: I have stretch marks....and they were showing!!
Did the world end? Did I eyes bleed? Nope. And it felt so empowering.
So,I thought to myself, "why am I bothered by these stares?" My answer, because I care about others opinions when I shouldn't.
I preach self love on a daily basis yet I find it hard to follow my own words.
So message of the story...
Ladies: Show of any part of your body if you want. We will never know who came up with the hatred for stretch marks, the hatred for cellulite or the discrimination against bodies. But we can be the change. Accept yourself, accept others.
This is not a battle, its a journey. And we are all in it together.
